DTH Service Providers | Direct-To-Home television | Dish TV, Airtel Digital TV, Sun Direct, Videocon d2h, DD Direct, Reliance Digital TV and Tata Sky
DTH stands for Direct-To-Home television and is defined as the reception of satellite programmes with a personal dish in an individual home. DTH is growing throughout India, with its easy setup, interactive packages, and competitive offerings. There are seven major DTH providers today, all competing for attention and business: Dish TV, Airtel Digital TV, Sun Direct, Videocon d2h, DD Direct, Reliance Digital TV and Tata Sky.
Dish TV was the first major provider and has benefited from the early mover advantage. Tata Sky and Sun Direct is also having a good market. But while Airtel, Reliance, and Videocon developed late, they also offer good technology and more channels helping them to reach wider viewers. They are more flexible, aggressive and offer the consumers value for money. From these DTH platforms, only DD Direct is offering free service.
