What Do Navaratri Pooja Symbolize?
Navaratri is celebrated to commemorate the victory of good over evil and the Nine Nights of pooja symbolizes the nine nights of war between Goddess Durga and Mahishasura. The various forms of Ma Durga are worshipped with great fervor and devotion on these 9 days. The 3 dominant Goddess’ categories worshipped on Navratri are Durga, Lakshmi, and Saraswati and they share three nights of the nine nights of the Goddesses each. In 2014, Navaratri begins on 25th September and will continue till 3rd October.
Importance of Navratri – 9 Days
First three days
Goddess Durga represents the powers to destroy negativity in the form of poverty, laziness, fear, evil and criminal tendencies and She is invoked as a spiritual force in order to destroy all our impurities on the first 3 days.
Second three days
Goddess Lakshmi is predominantly the energy of luxury, wealth and material power and She is worshipped on the next 3 days to bestow her devotees with infinite wealth.
Final three days
Goddess Saraswati, who is in charge of inspiration, knowledge, fine arts, science and technology is worshipped on the final 3 days to have all-round success in life.
